I measure time differently since I decided to open 101 Boxing Club. An event that happened two days ago seems two months ago. Deadlines that seemed way off in the distance are really only a day away. Time is a bit topsy turvy for me.

Every once in a while a memory takes me all the way back to the beginning of this venture, April 2019. It feels like a million years ago, like I am falling through time at light speed with little fragments of memory interrupting the journey.

This hand made memory comes to 101 Boxing courtesy of Coach Kelly. Even though I am not an overly sentimental person, this framed copy of our first schedule warms my heart. I'm eternally grateful that she saved this piece of our club's history. I'll fill you in on the back story.

Title Boxing, our predecessor, closed it's doors for good in late March of 2019. Immediately several members and coaches from the Title Boxing wreckage scrambled to reopen the club for their loyal members. We accomplished this feat in 6 weeks. The week before we opened our doors we participated in a Parkinson's Moving Day Walk on the beach in Ventura. Representing 101 Boxing at our first public event, were myself,Thor, Taylor, Dawn, Derrick, Kelly and Janice. After the event, full of enthusiasm, we went out for a celebratory lunch.

During lunch, fortified by food and beer, we started hashing out our first class schedule on some of the napkins littering the table. Luckily Kelly grabbed a bit of our brainstorming session and secreted it away. As the above photo shows, it reappeared last week as a framed piece of our club's history. I was so touched when I saw it, it stopped me in my tracks and took me back to last April all over again. So a big shout out and thank you to coach Kelly!

Now I need to find a prominent place to hang it in the club.
